In order to ensure that food can be stored for a long time and transported for often thousands of kilometers, these products must be processed in a variety of ways, which can reduce the number of useful substances, including vitally important substances, that provide the body with the necessary energy and vitamins , and micro- and macro elements.

In addition, the need for special technological processes leads to the fact that after the necessary for long-term storage of food processing products, products that are unusual for them and substances that are not entirely friendly to the human body fall into the products.

As a result, a person gets a very significant disbalance in their diet, a lack of (sometimes critical) vitamins, minerals and other substances necessary to preserve health, but the share of high-calorie food that provides the body with so-called fast carbohydrates and an excess of fat is significantly increased in the structure of nutrition.

However much the nutritionists adhere to this dietary style, there is no scientific information and the results of authoritative research that would convincingly prove that raw food as the only way of eating is suitable for any modern person.

It is quite clear that energy and any needs in different periods of human life are completely different, even if we take into account at least the main stages: pregnancy and fetal bearing, breastfeeding (lactation period), the period of active growth, old age.

It is important to consider! Even if we take into account all the arguments of the followers of raw food, we must pay attention to the fact that the life expectancy of primitive man was incommensurably smaller, and the way of life was completely different.

What is the raw diet?

If different people say "raw food", then this does not mean that they mean the same thing, because there are quite a few varieties of raw food.

Naturally, raw products of vegetable origin are allowed for consumption.
  • Vegan raw-food diet is quite tough, which allows only raw vegetable food, completely sweeping aside and categorically excluding any food of animal origin. It is this type of raw food that is considered the most popular and widespread.
  • The least popular is the so-called carnivorous raw food diet, which is sometimes called a raw meal or even a raw food of the Paleolithic era. As the name implies, carnivorous raw food is allowed to eat raw meat, fish, seafood, eggs, but the amount of fruits and vegetables in this food system is minimized. Any cereal, all beans, milk and vegetable oil, even cold pressed, with this kind of raw food are completely excluded.
  • Alternatively, raw food diet is known fruitarianism in which the food consumed only fresh berries and fruits. Vegetables in this system of raw food are not included, because potatoes, carrots, beets, cabbage, and any cereals are not fruits, but root crops or cereals.

The intervals between meals can be any - from half an hour to several hours. With monotrophic nutrition, it is very important that food is not mixed during meals, and if it is decided to eat nuts or, say, plums, that is, only them.

You can change one product to another only during the next meal, but you can eat only one food a day, a week, a month or even longer (at least, such precedents are known).

Contraindications for raw food

It is understandable that even if it is decided to switch to raw diet, first we need to find out whether there are contraindications for this.

  • First, raw food is contraindicated for those who do not yet have children but are going to start them. 

The fact is that in order for ovules in the female body and sperm in the male body to be full, not only vitamins that are in the raw food of plant origin, but also proteins and fats of animal origin are needed. When you switch to raw diet, the intake of the necessary substances into the body is significantly complicated or even impossible.

  • Secondly , raw food is categorically contraindicated during pregnancy and during breastfeeding of a newborn baby, since both for the formation of the fetus and for the full growth of the baby during breastfeeding, substances that can not be obtained from those products that are on the list of allowed for any of the types of raw food.
  • Thirdly, raw food is not suitable as the main food for children and adolescents until their bodies are fully formed, because, during growth and formation of all the systems and organs of the body, adequate nutrition is necessary, in which fats, proteins, and carbohydrates should be provided, as well as some micro- and macro elements that can only be obtained from their products of animal origin. 

Numerous studies have shown that full-fledged growth and development of the child can be ensured only by full-fledged nutrition, otherwise, the development and growth of the child will be delayed.

  • Fourthly, raw food is not highly recommended (any of its varieties) for the elderly, since metabolism ( metabolism ) slows down with age. 

And with altered metabolism, there is a high probability that the body of an elderly person will not be able to use all the beneficial substances from raw foods.

How to switch to the raw diet?

  • The first rule. The first and most important rule for raw food is to never mix foods containing fat and products containing sugar because such a combination can provoke a fermentation process in the stomach.

  • The second rule. In raw food, in no case can you combine products that contain acid, and products that contain starch, because the acid strongly inhibits the process of splitting starch, which begins in the mouth. 

Sometimes, in cases of a combination of acidic and starchy foods, there may even be a feeling of pain. An example of such an impermissible combination can be bananas and oranges because bananas contain starch, and in oranges there is acid.
  • The third rule. It is impossible to consume different fats or fatty foods in one meal because when digesting various fats in the gastrointestinal tract, the digestion process proceeds much more slowly. That's why any nuts should not combine in one meal with avocados, with coconut or with vegetable oil of cold pressing.
  • The fourth rule. Any greens are suitable for combination with any other products. That is, dill, parsley, coriander can be eaten during any meal - undesirable combinations of products, in this case, does not happen.
  • The fifth rule. When choosing fruits and berries, you should take into account that acidic berries and fruits should be combined only with acidic ones, and sweet berries and fruits can be consumed only simultaneously with sweet fruits.
  • The sixth rule. If food intake involves the consumption of vegetables, it should be remembered that vegetables can only be combined with vegetables.
  • Seventh rule. Any sprouted grains or legumes should be eaten separately from all other foods. Sprouted grains or legumes are not combined with any other product.
  • Eighth rule. If dry nuts can be eaten with some foods, then the so-called lively nuts, that is, nuts that have been soaked in water for several hours should be eaten separately from the rest of the food.

Speaking about raw food, it should be said that such a food system is very different from any modern traditions, and this is not surprising since in the history of mankind raw food has ended with the appearance of fire.
